Names and synonyms: Chirgua bristlenose. Currently regarded a variant of A. gymnorhynchus, but may be an own species, according to Linder (pers. comm.).

The Chirgua bristlenose is plain chocolate brown with no distinctive pattern. It is an elongate Ancistrus, not overly flat in shape. The tentacles of the males are thin, unbranching, and sit in a single row along the snout rim and in a Y shape on the head.
