A rather standard-colored, slender and highbacked Ancistrus dark brown species and faint light-colored, not overly big spots. Males with long, thin tentacles, many of which branch out several times. The juveniles show a bit more color contrast and have light-colored seams on their dorsal and caudal fin. Tanner (USA) bred an albino variant that is very hard to tell apart from the albinotic form of the brown aquarium pleco.
