This attractive, relatively large bristlenose catfish has yellowish dots on dark brown ground. Juveniles with wide reddish brown fin seams in the dorsal and caudal fins and reddish brown spots in the pectoral and ventral fins. Adult males with branching tentacles around the snout and on the head. Females with fewer, shorter tentacles around the snout.
