References
Evers, (2018);
This small, slender bristlenose catfish with the remarkably large eyes has more or less the standard coloration of the genus: a dark brown body and cream-colored spots. The tentacles of the males are standard size. However, Bodrock was the first to notice and document a very uncommon color change for a bristlenose catfish: Whenever he put his specimens into a tank with a black substrate and blue background, they reliably turned almost entirely black. During brood care season, their fins turned bright icy blue. Later on, Bodrock observed another complete color change in a brood cave, and therefore he suggested the use of the name "Chameleon bristlenose catfish.
