Another small black bristlenose catfish with beautiful, shining white spots on the body and in the fins. The body is relatively wide, its sucker-mouth medium-sized. The slanting caudal fin has a white seam. One specimen was presented as sharkfin pleco due to its somewhat deformed dorsal fin, but this shape isnt standard. The second author presented L 485, another similar Ancistrus with somewhat different body proportions (with a wider rump). In our opinion, slight deviations of the norm may occur in a species found in one river but in different locations, just as we know from Hypancistrus.
Further information (such as origin, keeping, care and breeding) aboutAncistrus sp. (L485) can be found in our new book about the loricariid catfish of the Ancistrus genus.
