Names and synonyms
Manacapuru bristlenose. The code number L 148 was allotted twice by mistake, first for a representative of the genus Chaetostoma, which was later declared invalid in DATZ 1/1994.

The coloration of this medium-sized bristlenose catfish is very typical. They have tiny light-colored dots on blackish brown ground, the fins of this Ancistrus carry light-colored reddish brown spots forming bands. There is a black spot on the base of the caudal fin between the first and second ray.
