Its very flat, wide body shape, the white dots on black ground in combination with the very large eyes make the species easy to identify. In nature youll come across yellowish or partially yellowish specimens, whose coloration is variable, a phenomenon known from several Parancistrus species, whose reason is unclear. The white dots are highly variable from specimen to specimen. They may be really intense, or almost missing.
