Large dark brown bristlenose catfish with white to yellowish spots, the males of which have long, robust, branching tentacles. The lower part of the caudal fin is characteristically longer in adult specimens, which misses in similar species. Younger specimens do not show a reddish-brown seam in their caudal fin, as do Ancistrus sp. "Río Ucayali” (UANC 007)!
