This bristlenose catfish is a true dwarf, with a maximum length of around 3 inches. The standard length of the largest type specimen was only 2.6 inches. Its body color is dark brown to black, with tiny white spots. The tips of the caudal fin are white in adult specimens (missing in L 032!), juveniles have a white fin seam. Ventral side dark (another difference to L 032).
