References
Valenciennes (1840)
Not much is known about Ancistrus bufonius, described by Valenciennes as early as in 1840. In Valenciennes description, the coloration is completely missing. Only rather large and rough first rays of the pectoral and pelvic fins and eight branched rays in the dorsal fin are mentioned as special features.
