Ancistrus agostinhoi is a dark gray armored catfish with a slightly wider body shape, and irregular light brown spots on its body, which are more clearly expressed on its head. The males have medium-sized tentacles. Their sucker-mouth is very large, the lower jaws are wider than in A. abilhoai.
