A relatively large, slender bristlenose catfish with fine white dots on dark grayish brown ground. In younger specimens, the light and dark colors contrast beautifully, and their dorsal and caudal fin have spectacular reddish brown fin seams. Sometimes the pectoral and ventral fins have a reddish brown pattern. Males have relatively long, slender tentacles on the snout rim and on top of their head.
